As we both wrapped up the 2017 season, we took some time to reflect on our vision and mission of the organization, our purpose, and our core beliefs. Through this process we determined that a change was in our mutual best interests. After much discussion within our board of directors, our coaches, and the Richland Jr. Bombers program, we’ve decided to start a new unifying league called the Mid-Columbia Youth Football Conference (MCYF), which partners the two leagues into a unifying set of playing rules and structures. Though we are forming a new league, we will continue to operate as the Kennewick Grid Kids. While you may hear many comments on this new league, it’s important to know that the decision was made with our kids at the center. Here are some highlights:

• All games in Richland and Kennewick
• Every child will still be given the same equal playing time rules as in the past
• Roster sizes will continue to be small and manageable sizes
• 8 to 12 teams at every level
• No stacked teams, recruited teams, or elite style teams
• The best, yearly certified, football equipment in the Tri-Cities, Safety First!
• Concentration on fundamentals taught with USA Football principles
• Ball carrier weight limits in each division

The KGK program, as well as the Richland Jr. Bombers, are dedicated to teaching the youth of our community the fundamentals and proper techniques of football. Our emphasis is on developing physical fitness, sportsmanship, teamwork, and leadership skills in a positive and safe environment, as well as to prepare them for the High School football programs if they so choose that path. We strive to provide opportunities for all participants to develop individual skills and self-confidence while building great friendships and having fun. With this mission as our filter, the move to the MCYF allows us to help build the bylaws; safety first, opportunity for all, and great sportsmanship development that encompasses what has made Kennewick Grid Kids the premier youth football league in Kennewick for so many years.

We are very excited about the changes as we, the two LARGEST youth football programs, join to make the greatest youth football program in the Tri-Cities. If you have played with KGK before then you understand the pride we have in making sure our kids have the best, are treated the best, and now look the best! This move will ensure that we build on that. We look forward to seeing all of you on the football field!!!
