As the world celebrated the beginning of 2020 nearly 12 months ago we could not have imagined what was in store. It’s been a year full of ups and downs, triumphs and struggles, heartwarming stories of our community banding together mixed with tales of extreme heartache. COVID-19 and the resulting shutdowns and activity limitations have taken a toll on the physical, mental, and emotional health of many, particularly young people.

KGK recognizes the need for normalcy in our community and heard the plea from parents. We are excited to announce our first pre-season Back to Business Camp for area youth to meet these needs. The focus of the camp is to get kids’ bodies moving through speed, agility, and conditioning drills directed by KGK coaches and volunteers. The camp is designed to all Washington State and WIAA guidelines regarding youth sports.

KGK president, Jeff Boyus, summarizes it best:

“Most kids haven’t set foot on a sports field for 9 months, many haven’t even returned to classrooms. We know that sports provide  valuable opportunities for the physical activity, camaraderie, and routine that is vital to good mental health. Local high schools have safely and successfully implemented group training for the past three months. Our vision is to bring those same opportunities to younger athletes in 1st-8th grades.”

Camp registration is currently available at www.kennewickgridkids.com/registrationz. Space is limited to the first 200 participants. Participation is not limited to football players or cheerleaders. Youth of all skill levels and abilities are encouraged to attend. Volunteer and sponsorship opportunities are available.
